Pre- IASAS Badminton

It’s time for season 3 updates! This season consists of Badminton, Baseball, Softball and Track & Field! ISB is excited to be hosting this year’s IASAS Baseball/Softball this coming April. Let’s get to know our Panther Athletes better starting off with our Varsity Badminton girls and boys.

Lulu Schmitt (12) says, “I’m looking forward to see how all the new players and younger players improve over the course of this season.” They are getting ready for IASAS and hoping to medal again this year. On behalf of the boy’s team, Guy Thampakkul (12) is excited for this year’s team. “Last year we finished 5th, which was definitely not where we expected to finish going into last year’s tournament. However, at the end of the tournament, looking back towards the season, the team agreed that our mindset wasn’t great, we didn’t work as hard as we should have, the injuries certainly did not help and that this year we were going to come back ready to put in the work from day 1. This year’s team is definitely better than last year’s team, we have six returning IASAS players who all improved compared to last year, we made appropriate line up adjustments and have some new young talent to push the older players. The hardworking and supportive culture we’ve established so far this season has put us in a great position to contend at IASAS and ensures there will be no regrets.”

Guy describes how he finds success as a captain, “Strengthening the relationships among teammates, working as hard as we can to put ourselves in the best position to compete, and of course to win.” Lulu, one of the three captains this year, defines how she finds success, “to me it honestly just means that everyone is giving it their all and that they come out of their games proud with their plays and what they have accomplished – they should be enjoying the sport!”

Both captains also gave us insight on who they are excited to step up to be leaders this year, Guy expresses, “everyone. Everyone needs to be held accountable for putting themselves in the best position to compete, and for pushing others to do the same. As captains, we make sure that the culture and season routines are well established in order to give everyone opportunities to reach their individual potential and contribute to having the team reach its potential.” Followed by Lulu, “I’m looking forward to see how all the new players and younger players improve over the course of this season.”

Best of luck to all of the athletes this season and we hope that all of your goals are accomplished!
