For our final Varsity season of the 2025-26 school year, ISB brings some amazing teams and athletes to light. Season Three sports at ISB bring not only eight amazing teams but some of the biggest teams in the school, highlighted by the boys and girls track and field teams, badminton teams, golf teams, as well as the baseball and softball teams. With the season three teams’ consistent success at IASAS, I wanted to interview some of the varsity athletes once again to see how team chemistry affects relationships and performance in our season three teams.
Lana H. is a member of the girls track and field team who, for the last three years, have won gold in IASAS and she talks about how amazing it is to be a part of the Track team and ISB athletics in general and how supportive the ISB community is. She has been a three-season athlete for the past couple years and being a part of the amazing athletic community at ISB has been great for Lana. She has also built countless friendships from sports at ISB as she states, “most of my friends come from sports”. The great team environment on the Track and Field team has made many fun memories on and off the track, meeting new people through sports made making friendships much easier for Lana and some of her fondest memories throughout her time at ISB have stemmed from sports.

Ash N. is a 3 year member and two-year captain of the varsity baseball team and he highlights that “going through challenges and successes” throughout his three years on the team has really made his friendships more meaningful and strong here at ISB. He spends a lot of time with the team outside of school at tournaments and after practice and making those memories makes the team bond much stronger. He also highlights how the fun yet competitive team environment where players can laugh and have a good time, but also push one another to be the best they can makes the team much more enjoyable and memorable. The great team environment also makes it easier for Ash to trust and respect his teammates which makes baseball very important to him and the respect factor has helped Ash build important friendships over the years thanks to his time playing sports at ISB.

Kevin X. is a grade 11 student and standout player on the ISB Golf team. Kevin just committed to play golf at Ohio State University! In the questions he responded to he highlights how golf and his team environment got him to the point he is at now and how without his team and golf here at ISB, he wouldn’t have the opportunity to play at the Division 1 level. Kevin talked about how the golf team is extremely collaborative and close. He also talks about how being such a close knit team makes traveling with the team the most enjoyable part of every season and how it brings the team together. Another perspective that Kevin has is that, though he has to compete he doesn’t view golf as purely competitive, when traveling he loves experiencing new cultures and meeting new people is an amazing part of the sport. In all, Kevin loves spending time with his team on and off the course, but there are so many important factors that go into his friendships that he has made through sports and ISB and outside of ISB.

Tonkaow is a junior at ISB and she has been on the varsity badminton team for the past couple of years and she talks about how friendly the badminton team is, highlighting how through any situation the team is able to laugh and have fun. The competitive nature of badminton is also highlighted through TK’s answers where she says in order to maximise practice time, they play up until the nets are packed up. Though the team is very competitive, the friendly and close team bond makes the varsity badminton team even better. TK also talks about how playing badminton has taught her that no matter what, she always has friends and good people to support her through everything. The friendships she has made through badminton and sports here at ISB have made her realise that with such a good group of friends she will always have people that can be there for her.

In conclusion, through all seasons and sports here at ISB, our athletes build important bonds and relationships with teammates that lead to great team moments, friendships and performances. These close friendships are the baseline for our amazing athletic reputation and without our amazing team bonds and chemistry shape the teams that win us IASAS!
