2017+Girls+Volleyball+IASAS+Recap

The volleyball IASAS 2017 girls season is now over. Despite coming in 4th, the team had an outstanding tournament and just had a few games that slipped out of their grasp.

The team had a goal of going into the tournament and playing their best with a medal in mind. co-Captain Alania Pinvises said that “our team had the goal to of course, play our hardest with a medal in mind.”But in response to the outcome she explains sometimes that “However, just as so happens in most tournaments the unexpected does happen and we finished with a fourth place.”

On the first day of the tournament, the team went 3-0, remaining undefeated dominating the tournament. On the second day, the team won their first game against ISM and then lost to SAS later that day. During the semifinals, the girls team played ISM and had a devastating defeat which put them into the 3rd/4th place game where they battled out with the Taipei Tigers.

Never played as hard as they did in some of the games during IASAS

— Jessica and Alaina

After the loss against Manilla, the was unable to get back to their strongest level of play and ended up losing to Taipei in the 3rd/4th place game. Although the team did not medal in the tournament, it was a fun weekend and a great experience for all including the IASAS regulars and for those new to the competition.

The team may have not been able to win IASAS, but they had a great time and were able to bond through victory and defeat. The team’s captains Jessica and Alaina say this year’s team “has never played as hard as they did in some of the games during IASAS.” Compared to last year’s team they finished in the same position, but the young players on the team will come back next year stronger than ever.

Amazingly, because of ISB’s ambitious spirit, onlookers and players from all the other schools began to call ISB the “fight back” team said Alaina. Overall if the ISB team is able to continue having this no quit’ attitude, then they will be able to continue to be strong in their future IASAS competitions.
