ISB Class Of: 2017

College: Cornell University

How many years have you been in college?

This is my second semester at Cornell.

What career path are you pursuing?

As of now, I have no clue. Currently, I’m a candidate for Economics and Computer Science double major so I will probably end up doing something related to finance or technology. I’m applying for an internship at a bank this summer though. If it so turns out that I really do enjoy that, I will probably pursue a finance related career path.

How would you describe the transition from ISB to your new college?

For myself, I think the most difficult part of the transition was finding a group of people that really clicked with me. It was until half way into the first semester that I really found a group of friends I really enjoy being around. Once I’ve found my group, I really came to enjoy being at Cornell.

Do you feel ISB prepared you well for your college experience (both academically and socially)?

ISB did prepare me well for college. I skipped all the introductory courses and did not feel that I was behind in any of the intermediate courses I took. The really nice thing about college is that there’s no one to keep you on track anymore, it’s totally up to you to manage your own time. In this regard, the IB did a pretty good job of honing my time management skills.

What advice would you give to this year’s Seniors as they follow in your footsteps next year?

Do what it is that you like to do and pursue it. When I was writing my college applications, I, at one point, was really considering either a business or an engineering major. I had those considerations not because I wanted to pursue a business or engineering degree but more so because of the financial security embedded within those two majors. In the end, I applied for College of Arts and Sciences and would have regretted it had I done otherwise.
