Inside Out

insideout

movie 2

One of the best things a film can do is to make you cry and laugh at the same time. Inside out is a sweet, funny and heartbreaking film. This story holds an incredibly unique plotline with the main characters of the film being emotions inside an eleven year old girl, Riley’s mind who like all of us is led by her emotions: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust. The story really begins when the character, sadness messes with Riley’s memories, causing conflict within Riley’s outside world. The emotions than take action to better the situation, but only end up making it worse, with Joy and Sadness getting sucked up into a labyrinth of Riley’s  long term memories. From there, they try to find a way to get back to the headquarters otherwise known as Riley’s mind. Whether you are an adult or in the first grade, this is a movie you will enjoy. It is excellent in every way, full adventure and surprising amount of meaning messages along the way. It is without a doubt one of Disney Pixar’s bravest and best films.

Pixels

pixels

 movie 3

Pixels is not necessarily a bad film, as some viewers may enjoy it, mostly for the animated visual effects. However, this tends to take over the on-screen action. This movie takes place in the eighties where aliens misinterpret video feeds of classic games as a declaration of war. Thus, this misinterpretation leads to the aliens attacking earth using videogame characters. The president then recruits four people who are arcade players and a military specialist to an all out battle to save the planet. Most teens and adults may find this movie bland, which is why Pixels may appeal to a younger aged audience. Pixels has a few laugh out loud moments and a couple of sparks that make it an almost decent film. However, in reality, this is solely another movie that you will easily forget about, only days after watching it.

Paper Towns

papertowns

movie 1

Paper Towns is a bittersweet film based on the novel of the same title by John Green. This movie effectively captures a certain point in a teenager’s life of love and the fun of friendships. Both Cara Delevingne and Nat Wolff did a great job portraying teens, Cara as a character with a rebellious personality, and Nat as one a lot more introverted and shy. While the movie’s soundtrack is flat, the film isn’t all tears, as it is a story of wisdom, finding your true self, and a reality check that a perfect person only exists in people’s imaginations. The film in general may not be as moving and captivating as hoped, but it is still wonderful enough that viewers are questioning whether it weighed down last year’s The Fault In Our Stars.

Fantastic Four

f4

 movie 3

Fantastic Four is a movie about four adults who gain superpowers after being transported to another universe and together they must defeat von doom. In all honesty, this film was neither unforgettable nor memorable. Fantastic Four is a terrible film, lacking all the joy and color that made the comic series great. Not only that, the dull narrative drains all the spark from the otherwise extremely talented actors. This film is an epic fail for Hollywood’s comic book universe with bad special effects. It starts out strong but ends with a complete mess and, not to mention the sequel doesn’t look so promising either.
