With the beginning of season 3 sports, the girls’ varsity tennis season has come to an end. The team ended their tournament in 4th place, and while it was not the placement that they were hoping for, they did get the experience of a lifetime.

One of the tri-captains, Pancake Hetrakul (11), says, “we had great teamwork and a strong bond, which I think helped to contribute to where we finished in the tournament.” Pancake added that she was disappointed about the fourth place, but she and the team still had an enjoyable time cheering and supporting each other throughout the entire season.

The other tri-captain, Ginnie Changrew (11), explained that “mentality was the factor that contributed the most to where the team ended. For me, tennis is a game of mentality and most of the time, the more patient player would win.” She  added, “I think that Pancake and Alina were two of the main players who helped guide the team as they gave constant motivation to all players.”

Coach Connor also praised the three captains of the team, stating that “Alina Chan led by example at the very challenging #1 Singles position. Ginnie Changrew played #2 Singles and was always very determined and fought for every point. Pawarisa (Pancake) Hetrakul was part of our #1 Doubles team, and she was our strongest doubles player on the team, as she helped all other players improve their skills and partnerships.”

While the girls did not meet their expectations for the season, they will be able to do better because of what they learned this year through  their mistakes and experiences. We hope the best for the tennis team next year and will continually support them. .
