After winning their first match against ICS, Varsity boys and girls soccer teams played against two visiting Thai schools.

Girls vs. Bangkok Soccer School

This time, girls were playing an eleven-a-side game so there were less goals scored than in the first match of the season (10-3).

In the first period, the Panthers took the lead with their n°10 player. Then they kept this advantage until the third period, during which BSS equalized. It was a very tight game with a great battle in the middle of the pitch.

The fact that less goals were scored is linked to the two goalkeepers’ great performances. They saved a lot of kicks.

ISB could not win but is still unbeaten this season, which is good for morale.

Boys vs. Suankularb Nonthaburi

Second match in this season and second win for ISB. But this victory was far from easy. Indeed, Suankularb started very well and was dominating the first period but the Panthers resisted with a good defense and even scored a goal, by Captain Yuto. It was 1-0 for ISB at the break.

The second period was very intense and prolific, Suankularb came back with more motivation and scored two consecutive goals to lead 2-1. But one of our Panthers’ strengths is to never give up, especially when they are at home. Yuto, then Michael, who scored two goals, enabled the white and yellow shirts to lead by two goals at the end of the second period (4-2).

In the last period we worried when Suankularb reduced the score gap but the Panthers added another goal just before the final whistle to win 5-3.

The victory was not easy, but it is rewarding for a team to win with pain “It was a tough game, with a good team. Everybody played, that was a good team performance tonight.” Said Coach Smith after the game.

After this second win in the season, the team seems almost ready for the IASAS Soccer exchange on September 16th “Every game, players get better” according to Coach Smith.
