ISB’s Most Relaxing Spots

September 9, 2019

High School can be overwhelming. With the surplus of options students have to get involved, they can often feel like they have too much to do. During times like this where students are so involved with sports, arts and clubs, not to mention homework, it is important that our student body remembers to take moments in their day to sit back and relax. The new renovations to our campus seem to be popular amongst the high school student body to open the year, and it seems that there is a higher variety of places for students to spend their lunch or free blocks. I interviewed a few members of the student body, and got their responses on their favorite places to relax on campus.

1: The Math Hub

The math hub seems to be a very popular place for students to relax and get work done during free time, or just take a moment to have a rest. Daniel Namatinia (11) said that “Everytime I go [to the hub], I see other people I get to talk with them. It also has AC which is really nice. A good place to relax overall”. Milan Pant (10) added that he likes the math hub because “It creates a relaxed environment outside of class where you get to interact with people” and also that “It provides a comfortable place to do your homework.

2: Library

The library also provides a place for students to come and relax, or get work done. With the variety of options, ranging from the couches to the breakout rooms upstairs for students to get work done, the library is also quite a popular option for students. Orisa Thanajaro (11) quoted that her favorite place to relax is the library because “It’s one of the few AC areas that students can access anytime and that combats the hot Thailand environment! Also, the library generates some sort of a study environment and helps we be productive during my free blocks.” Additionally, Giselle Yan (12) added that “The new renovation of the cafeteria provides a lot of open space including the area with bean bags, it’s very nice and relaxing to be in.” Pleng Kruesopon (10) stated that she enjoys spending time in the library because “It is a very quiet place in which I can get all of my work done without any distractions.”

3: New Oval Tables at the cafeteria

One of ISB’s new renovated features is around the cafeteria, specifically the new oval tables and the beanbag area. These provide a place for students to relax during lunch, or socialize during free periods. Orisa Thanajaro (11), stated “I enjoy spending time at the oval tables when I’m not studying because my friends are there!”. Giselle Yan (12) also enjoys the new cafeteria, she stated that “The new renovation of the cafeteria provides a lot of open space including the area with bean bags, its very nice and relaxing to be in.”

4: The Learning Hub

The hub provides an area for students to get work done, and socialize with friends during free time. Daniel Namatinia (11) enjoys the hub because “Every time I go there I see other people and I get to talk with them and it also has AC which is really nice. A good place to relax overall.” Giselle Yan (12) also enjoys spending time at the hub because “it has quiet rooms where we can chill with friends.”

The many new renovations to our school provide a variety of places for students who may need a break throughout the day. Whether it is to get homework done quietly, converse with friends or just enjoy the air-conditioning, ISB students truly are very lucky to have such a surplus of spaces to enjoy their free time on campus.
