Premier League — Rules of Survival
The Premier League is the biggest league in the world, mainly because English football is really old and the fan base is very strong. This is an exciting time, as every season 3 team will be relegated to the EFL championship league (Second tier of English football) and three new teams from the EFL Championship will be promoted to the Premier League. With this, it is essential that the promoted teams will be successful in the Premier League.
What each team needs to survive the Premier League:
- A manager with experience in the Premier League is very important. If the newly promoted team manager does not have experience in the Premier League, then it will be very difficult for the manager to adjust. However, if staff coaches on the team have Premier League experience then it would make things easier for the manager.
- Teams that have been promoted must have an experienced Premier League player. Buying premier league players is a must because this would provide the promoted team with Championship and Premier League experience. This is a big difference, as having 1 Premier League player approximately equals 2 players for the team.
- Promoted teams must have the spirit to fight until the end of the season. Players and staff coaches, including the manager, must have the spirit to fight because most of the promoted teams always lose. From statistics, promoted teams always start the season very well with a strong fighting spirit, but towards the end of the season, promoted teams usually drop points and lose a lot.
- In decades of statistical research, there is a myth that every Premier League team needs at least 40 points to survive but this is not true. Based on statistics from BCC, on average the point of guarantee to survive is 36.6 point, according to statistics from the 22 previous seasons.
- Loan a Premier League experienced player. It would provide backup or even help in the starting line up. Most loan players in Premier League are young and need game time so it would benefit the team and the players.
Some Students were asked about their thoughts on the rules of survival. Idan Zeidman (9) describes, “Every team member has to like each other and talk to each other, having good chemistry, training hard, and listening to the Manager/coach is vital.” Luca Crimi (9) states, “Premier league teams need a strong manager that has a desire to win”. These are the things each team needs in order to survive the Premier League — the best league in the world.
