JUMBOTRON
As the new school year continues, new changes are made. The master plan for summer 2018 was to renovate the Rajendra, which included repainting, installing sound panelling, doing maintenance for the sound system, new banners, as well as updating logos and video LED screens to replace our older scoreboards, also known as the Jumbotron. Derrick Quinet, the Athletics Director, exclaims, “they are state of the art and provide an ongoing opportunity for learning and creativity by our students and teachers.”.
Mr. Quinet describes the new features of the Jumbotron such as its ability to highlight activities, teams, service groups, and create graphics, inserts, and visuals. “The boards can play anything via airplay and they have very user friendly scorekeeper apps.” These applications also allow “game inserts, videos, etc.” The more collaboration of creativity between teachers and students, the more the Jumbotron can present. “They are really only limited by our imagination.” The jumbotron represents the ISB community as a whole, with something for everyone. It is not only used to advocate sports, but is also a collaboration with other clubs/teams is what makes it interesting and different from the old scoreboards.
The Jumbotron has been such an improvement that has created well-deserved buzz within the student body. “It’s modern and pretty big…it’s jumbo.” says Zachary Giles (10).The jumbotron has the ability to bring so much more enthusiasm and excitement to the crowd during the games, encouraging athletes to drive to victory in whichever sport it may be. “There’s so many more things you can do with it!” says Trent Szydlowski (12).
Athletes that use the Rajendra are excited to continue using the scoreboard throughout the season. This improvement is truly fascinating. Nora Aylward (11) says, “The technology is so much more advanced!” The jumbotron brings a lot of attention making the games much more interesting, intense, and joyful.
