The Best End

The Varsity Boys Baseball team achieved all that they could have hoped for and more at this year’s IASAS. Gold for the seniors that are leaving, the best send off a team can give, and gold at an away IASAS. This is as good as it can get and the boys had a blast in Jakarta.

After one of the most successful years of sports ISB has ever seen, The Varsity Boys Baseball team added one more gold to the mix. Coach Weiser said, “We knew we had the potential, but you never really know!” Over the tournament, the team grew in confidence and they held their heads high going into the final game, beating Manila 12 – 3. As said by Coach Weiser, “Any of our six pitchers

could have been a number 1 or 2 on the other teams. As well as our hitters, 1 through 9 came through in clutch situations.” With such talent and skill, this team might be one of the best ISB has ever had.

“The team is the star, never an individual player.” – John Wooden. This was one of the many quotes the coaches told the players over the course of the season. The coaches also showed videos of other baseball teams, which were inspiration to the team and gave them a drive that led to success. “In one of the videos we showed, the college team ended the video by saying ‘team first, team last’.” Coach Weiser stated, “We later heard some of our players repeating that statement later.”

This season will be remembered by all the players. The camaraderie is unmatched and it became a true brotherhood in the end. For all the leaving

players, you will always be a part of the team, no matter where you are.
