“The Girls are Ready… Full Stop!”

With the countdown to IASAS starting, the girls swim team are prepping up for the tall task they will be facing. Last year the girls placed 3rd at ISKL; this year, the tournament will be held in JIS from Feb 1st to Feb 3rd.

Coach Day describes the supportive atmosphere of the team who are very supportive of each other, and are able to help each other when in need. This year, the team lost 5 seniors and 2 students who transferred out, with major burdens falling on the 4 returning IASAS swimmers. However, Coach Day explains that the new team members  have made the team stronger than last year.

One of the team captains, Marcelina Lekawska (11), believes that the team will be able to come out successful in this year’s IASAS,even with only 4 returning IASAS swimmers. “Comparing now to the beginning of the season, I think all the swimmers are a lot more confident in their skills and in what they can do.”.

Upon mentioning the team’s strength, she remarks that  their greatest asset is how close they are as a team. The team values this strength because the team is able to support each other and help achieve individual and collective goals. “We all support each other and help each other achieve our own individual goals. I am positive that at IASAS our ability to encourage each other will help everybody do their best.”

The girls feel that they have done their best to prepare for the upcoming IASAS by waking up at 5am coming before school starts to train, and doing 6 kilometer practices with a positive mental attitude. They have all come a long way, both literally and figuratively.

The girls swim team are going into IASAS with a great smile and high hopes of getting  gold.

How do you think they will do in JIS at IASAS? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
