Time to Say Goodbye…

Panther Nation Seniors Alex Choi, Stella Kim, Tosia Lekawska, Samantha Mitchell, Peyton Emery, Nihal S. (missing Alyssa Alexander)

As is always the case when May rolls around at ISB, we are confronted with conflicting emotions: the joy and prospect of summer freedom and new challenges vs. the grief and sadness of saying goodbye to departing friends.

Here at PantherNation , as we come to the close of our inaugural year of the Media Studies class, it is the departing Seniors to whom we now offer our gratitude for their commitment, respect for their legacy… and sorrow at their impending departure.

Tosia Lekawska: Tosia has been with the Media Studies class for all 4 years of her HS career at ISB.  She is the only surviving member of the Journalism class, which produced the print magazine The International.  As such, Tosia has overseen the most change of, quite possibly, ANY student who has ever enrolled in the Journalism/Media Studies class.  She has been a reporter and editor and a senior leader in her time, and her quiet yet fully committed leadership skills have been the very definition of dependency for every minute she has been in the class.  We, at PantherNation wish her the very best as she leaves us for the brighter field of post-secondary education in the U.K.

Peyton Emery: Has been the driving force behind The Broadcast all year.  A natural problem solver, Peyton’s greatest contribution to PantherNation has been the “self-starter” attitude she has brought to her role – every problem she has encountered, she has solved in her own creative, and effective, manner.  She has consistently been a dependable and organized leader in what may be the most time-consuming position in the class.

Samantha Mitchell and Alyssa Alexander: Every email, Facebook post and Broadcast edition you have received has been initiated by these two dedicated ladies.  Both Sam and Alyssa have been in Media Studies for three years, overseeing the amalgamation of the old “The International” and “Panther Productions” factions.  In their senior year, they have worked together to market  PantherNation’s to the whole school AND they have organized our class to cover and livestream 3 major IASAS events and the Tedx Talks in January.  The position they filled was a new one this year, and they have both done a fine job in establishing a foundation for the next Marketing/IASAS Directors of the future..

Nihal Singhsachathet and Stella Kim: Nihal and Stella have worked hard this year to improve the quality of our video productions (Nihal) and your web experience when you visit the PantherNation   website.  Both students have been involved with Media Studies since their sophomore year, and both have therefore been a part of PantherNation since its inception.  Above all, they have contributed to a fun and productive workplace while improving the quality of the brand each and every day.

Alex Choi: Alex joined PantherNation for his senior year, and quickly displayed his competence and dedication as a reporter in the Sports section,  When the Sports Editor had to leave halfway through the year, Alex was the obvious choice to step into the leadership role.  In his short time as Sports Editor, Alex has lifted the quality and variety of articles to the highest level it has ever been.

Goodbye to all our departing seniors here in Media Studies.

Good luck in your new endeavours to come (and exams before that!!)

Know that you have made a lasting impression on PantherNation and the ISB community at large.

Thank you.

You will be missed.
