Situated in the center of EmQuartier, Roast is the perfect lunch dine for anyone looking to take a break from a tiring shopping trip. This contemporary cafe is perfect for brunches with your friends, or even casual business meetings.
Once you enter Roast you witness its insane coffee bar. Bags and jars of coffee beans line the shelves along with cappuccino machines. Roast overlooks a display of vines and outdoor waterfalls that cascade down the opposite walls of EmQuartier. The majority of the indoor settings allows you to have view of this special including its 2 outdoor tables that decide on the balcony. This restaurant offers mainly indoor setting but makes an exception for 2 balcony tables.
The white tiled walls and minimalistic decor create an entirely different atmosphere from that of the shopping complex. The comfortable seating allows for laid back vibes to take over and for conversations to easily flow. Once settled in our seats, my friend Carissa and I flipped through the menu and began to pick our meals.
The menu holds a vast array of selection. Different blends of coffees and teas are served along with unique smoothies and iced drinks. I would personally recommend the strawberry banana smoothie as it is truly refreshing. The menu also holds lots of tasty creations that range from healthy salads to savory burgers. After a lot of contemplation, I decided I would order the Chicken Schnitzel. The meal is essentially crispy breaded chicken that is topped with roasted almonds. The Chicken schnitzel is paired with crunchy sautéed green beans with brown butter. In the end, the dish was truly delicious and was a good bang for the buck.
The other item that we shared was the Steak Frites. The meal comprises of a Hanger Steak cooked with spiced butter, sided with house made fries. The fries were perfectly crunchy and not even soggy. The steak, on the other hand was a bit to rare for our liking, but was still delicious. This item was rather pricy, Carissa and I shared it.
Of course we had to finish our delightful meal with dessert. We settled on the chocolate souffle which had dark chocolate and grand mornay sauce. The chocolate souffle was a tad bit dry on its own, but once the mornay sauce was added, it compensated. The dessert was perfect to share between two people as it has a rather big portion size. We also decided to order the strawberry waffle. Inside was fresh strawberries with whipping cream inside a crispy waffle. The original waffle is paired with house made vanilla ice cream. It was a delicious pairing.
Overall my meal at Roast was delicious and I am fully aware that I will be making my way back there very shortly. Finally if you are planning to go to Roast beware for the place can become hectic during peak hours. We arrived at roast at 10:45 and although the atmosphere was calm and peaceful, towards the end of our meal we could already notice the flow of incoming people. As a result, we would recommend going at a non-peak time in order to avoid the influx of people.
