The varsity boy football team invited Traill for a friendly yet highly competitive game on Sept. 20.
This match was the opportunity to award playing time to some deserved new faces in the lineup while giving some much needed rest to others.
The weather was clear but the field was wet and slick so the ball was leaking left and right. The first period was very tight between the two teams. Even if it was a friendly match it was physical, with both teams tackling and using their aggression in contacts.
The score was 0-0 at half-time, not many chances created by both teams. In the second half, the technical level increased and more chances were created. Striker Makito stole the moment and after a beautiful ball from Ruben and subsequent mistake by the defenders, he erased the goalkeeper and opened the score, 1.-0
Traill tried to equalize but were stymied by the strong defense of our Panthers. Goalkeeper, Cedric Lapine, put on a clinic with save after save, bookended by squashing a penalty chance to save victory. It was a good win for the Panthers after the Soccer Exchange, and it was good preparation for the ISB International Invitational.
