ISB played host to the 2016 Soccer Exchange North on September 16-17. This yearly contest between IASAS rivals also included a few fresh faces, as NIST and SST joined the friendly competition.
This event was a prelude in preparation for the Friendship Tournament and the season-ending IASAS Championships. Games followed the regular IASAS format with matches consisting of two x 30 minutes halves and a 10-minute halftime.
The ISB varsity boys started their tournament with a draw (0-0) on Friday afternoon against Manila, while the girls lost 4-0 against a strong team from Taipei.
The next day, the boys scored revenge on behalf of the girls by winning 2-0 against TAS, while the girls earned a draw against ISM.
In the final contest of the weekend and under heavy heat, the boys dropped a tough games against NIST while a technically sound team from SST defeated the ISB girls.
The focus of the weekend is not the final record, but the improvement and effort put forth by our Panthers in their quest to be their best. All the parents who came out to encourage and cheer can be proud of our teams. The Panthers didn’t win every game but they acquired a lot of experience for the future.
