A weird and delightful family comes to life in this year’s ISB high school musical production, The Addams Family. The musical follows the ever-lovable family of creepy kooks living happily in their super-spooky mansion in Central Park. The Addams family is led by the elegantly lean and seemingly undead Morticia and her devoted husband, Gomez. Their daughter Wednesday, finds herself falling in love — a feeling that is unsettling for both her and her family of misfits. When the daughter invites her new boyfriend, Lucas Beineke, over with his “normal” family to get better acquainted with her household, the chaos begins. It is a musical filled with humor, joy and sadness all packed into one that will leave the audience in awe.
At first you might think you know the Addams family inside and out since it is a beloved classic. However, as you get deeper into the plot, it becomes clear the twists and turns in this production will truly intrigue the audience. “I want the audience to feel the strong sense of family ties that resonates through the play and also to not worry about being a little weird or abnormal because it is not necessarily bad to be a little bit crazy every now and then,” describes Jacelia Breedlove (10), the Grandma of Addams Family and the mother of Gomez.
“I am really looking forward to the costume I am going to be wearing (really excited for long socks) and for all of the humorous lines in the play” adds Jacelia, She describes her character as “quite old and eccentric. Grandma is very witty and is integral to the family”. Many of the other actors are also elated to be involved in this school wide event, and the cast can not wait to show their hard work and talent through this fantastic written play, Addams Family.
The production day for Addams Family is November 17-19 of this year. If you are someone who enjoys entertainment and want to have a great time, then come see this phenomenal production!
