With Track and Field IASAS wrapped up, our ISB Panthers have represented us well in Taipei. The boys finished in 4th place while the girls came home with Silver. Although the emotions were high and the nerves were plenty, our Panthers did not disappoint.
Sabrina Kwenda took gold in girls triple jump with 10.43m. Andrew Thornton was within the reach of breaking the IASAS record of 1.96m, receiving gold in high jump with a jump of 1.93m. Both Sabrina and Andrew broke ISB school records.
Hantz Hessouh brought home silver for shot-put, also breaking a school record with a throw of 13.59m. Madison Warta received bronze in 100m hurdles with a time of 16.4 seconds. Alaina Pinvises is IASAS champion for the second year in a row in high jump with a jump of 1.55m. Alaina also finished as a silver medalist in hurdles. Afi Blackshear finished as a silver medalist in the 200m with a time of 23.43 seconds. As for the relay races Girls, 4X400m Relay, Girls 4X100m Relay and Boys 4X800m Relay were all bronze medalists. The throwers this year were a strong team with Grace O’Connell breaking the school record at exchange and receiving silver at IASAS this year. It seems that the coaches have pushed everyone to their limits and brought the athletes to the best of their potential.
Kadia Garabadian (11) stated that “Over IASAS our team improved tremendously, it was a rocky start for us but we ended up sliding into first place within the first 2 days. Sadly SAS took gold home but we couldn’t be any prouder of what we have accomplished.”
IASAS may be the most nerve racking time of the season but through all the sweat and hard work comes out a team filled with great memories. All of the athletes have given all their efforts throughout this season. Way to go Panthers!
