Cross Country Boys IASAS Recap
October 31, 2017
With Season One IASAS in the bag, the Boys Cross Country Coach, Mr. Bentley, was asked about what he thought about the competition overseas in Singapore. This year’s Boys Varsity Cross Country team finished IASAS with a silver medal, the same result as last year, once again beaten by SAS. Coach Bentley says, “the boys were peaking for this event, and most members on the team ran personal best times in both the 5km race and the 3 km time trial.” When asked about the growth as a team over the tournament, he said, “we do not get a lot of opportunities for good competition as most Bangkok schools do not have developed XC programs. The boys grew by being in a race with many talented other runners and gaining a better picture of the level they have to run to be at the top of the IASAS competition.”
When asked about outstanding performances, Coach Bentley gave these messages:
“Junior Will Condra, should be recognised for running well-executed races and taking the individual silver medal (to a really tough SAS runner) in both the 5 and 3 km. With the SAS runner graduating this year, Will is setting himself up to the the ‘Big Dog’ in the league next year.”
“Senior Jackson Carroll, in his last HS XC race ran for an overall bronze medal in the 3 km race. Certainly gave 110% and left it all out there!”
“Junior Dalton Lazich, over performed expectations and was an integral part of the team’s Silver medal, almost breaking 18 minutes for 5km.”
The boys performed extremely well the year and next year is shaping up to be a great one. What do you think of SAS? Leave us a comment. Go Panthers!
