LET’S GO GIRLS!!!

The volleyball season is now coming to an end and the IASAS tournament is about to begin. Last year the girls were able to secure the fourth place spot in Taipei Taiwan. This year the tournament is being held in Singapore from October 11-14.

For some members of the team this is their final volleyball IASAS, and for others, it is a welcoming beginning. Both of the captains for this year’s varsity girls team are seniors and I would infer that they would like to finish their volleyball careers at ISB strong.

One of the captains of this year’s team, Jessica Kim (12) believes that if the team is able to achieve at least a silver medal, then they can come out of the tournament successful. Nevertheless, she also mentions that “if we tidy up our game and go into each set with a positive attitude, I genuinely believe we can beat any team from the IASAS schools.”

The other captain of the team Alaina Pinvises (12) feels that the team this year “is very positive and zesty.” She also says that the team “build(s) up on each others energy and makes the game much more fun to play.” Alaina feels that the main strengths upon the team include “a strong serving team and have a few service runs a game,” and also being “able to chase a ball and cover our mistakes.”

Overall the outlook on the upcoming tournament seems bright, although the captains feel that in order for the team to achieve their maximum potential they should focus on their communication and be sure to cheer each other up on an off day to keep up the positive energy.

While the captains did not have much else to say, they did indicate that they are beyond excited to spend their last year with this bunch of girls, and to shout out their wonderful coaches “who do not get enough credit for the energy and passion they bring to the game.”

This team sounds like a fun and competitive group of girls who are confident in their ability to play and win games. How do you think the girls varsity volleyball team will be able to do over the IASAS in Singapore? Feel free to leave your thoughts below in the comments section.
