Long Talk: Ms. Coates
May 25, 2020
As we near the end of the (virtual) school year, there are some goodbyes in order. As part of an ongoing series, PantherNation sits down with departing staff to get their thoughts on their time on ISB, and where they are going next. Ms Coates, High School’s annual substitute teacher, will sadly be leaving us this year.
What is your position at ISB and how many years have you been here?
I have been the Annual Sub for one year.
What is the next destination in your life?
I will be teaching HS English at the American College of Sofia, Bulgaria.
Why did you decide to go there?
It is a fantastic school with excellent students and faculty. Bulgaria is also a gorgeous country with mountains, beaches and everything in between. I love the outdoors and this allows me the opportunity to do a lot of hiking, camping, skiing etc.
Looking back on your time at ISB, what memories and feelings will you take away from here?
ISB has been a wonderful experience for me. I have been incredibly impressed with both the staff and the students, and their dedication to ongoing success. Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly and I leave Thailand and ISB with fond memories of a fantastic year.
What final thoughts or advice would you like to leave with the students of ISB as you depart?
You’re at a wonderful school with opportunities that many kids can only dream of. Continue to keep taking advantage of this and striving for excellence.
