Batman vs Superman is not that bad. Was is too long? Yes. Did it have way too many stories going on at once? Yes. But was it awful? Not really.

Most viewers are automatically comparing their beloved Marvel superhero movies to Batman vs Superman, and that is where the main problems lie. Just because they are both superhero movies, does not mean that they are similar in any way. Marvel movies and characters are flashy, funny, and above all, fun. Most DC storylines, including this film, are darker, grittier, and take themselves seriously. That is just who they are as a brand.

This darker, more serious superhero movie can be really great movie experience. Take the Dark Knight series. Those movies were the same dark DC style, but were also universally adored. While Batman vs Superman is not nearly as good, it has so much potential to be.

Batman vs Superman has some really enjoyable moments, in particular Ben Affleck as Batman. But what is even more enjoyable is where they try to raise some really interesting and complex moral issues between the two heros. While these ideas were not as developed as they could have been, they were still there and forced the audience to think a little deeper about the movie.

So go see the movie, and make your own decisions. Do not go in hating it because everyone else did, because if you do you are robbing yourself of what could be a fine movie experience.
